Manchester Bar and Interior Design Scene
The Manchester Bar and Design scene – Cocktail Capital of the North!
Over the past few years, Manchester night life has gone from strength to strength. Building on a successful base of existing bars and restaurants, there have been plenty of new additions over the last 12 months with some fabulous bar designs.
Beautiful Bar Designs and Interiors
A growing cocktail culture has helped to fuel the increase in stylish venues, beautifully designed to encourage customers to indulge when it comes to the weekend.
One of our favourite interior architects JMDA from York, who have specified Versital on a number of Mitchells and Butler venues and more recently Chaophraya, invited us along to sample the delights of a few of the newest bar additions to Manchester.
Cottonopolis
1st stop Cottonopolis – a relatively new addition opening in October last year. An interesting mix of original cocktails and an exemplary range of gin’s make this bar part of the Manchester Gin trail. The decor had a polished industrial feel with lots of copper. We especially loved the copper geometric light fittings.
Alberts Schloss
Bavarian themed bar and restaurant. Great range of beers and ales, as well as an excellent cocktail menu. We loved the ‘Push for Prosecco’ feature and can confirm it does work! The decor featured a mix of wood, tile and marble for a light bright finish. Re-create the look using Versital marble table tops and marble bar tops in ‘Dove Grey’ or ‘Arabesque’.
Australasia
Situated just off Deansgate on the way to Spinningfields, the entrance is a real feature, with a triangular dome leading the way down into the trendy bar and restaurant. As the name suggests, the drinks all have an Australasian theme, with Australian and Asian beers and cocktails. With the bar being totally underground, the decor is kept very light with white washed walls and floors and an almost leather feel bar top. All very tactile.
The Alchemist
Famous for its’ extravagant cocktails, this bar certainly didn’t disappoint! We decided upon a ‘Lightbulb Moment’ – a mint infused gin cocktail featuring dry ice for a real spectacle! Take a look at our Instagram for the video. Copper bar tops featured throughout this fabulous bar design, along with gorgeous lighting.
Piccolino’s Manchester
The popular restaurant has had a long awaited facelift. Beautiful marble and powder blue accents throughout make for an elegant and fresh feeling venue. The long bar area has been re-designed to allow more space for people to enjoy a pre dinner drink whilst people watching. Fresh feeling white marble has been used throughout for the bar tops and table tops. Versital finishes ‘Arabesque’ and ‘Dove Grey’ are perfect to re-create this look and ideal for Italian restaurants, as they won’t stain or mark when faced with the popular Italian garnish balsamic vinegar.
