  4. Colour Trends: The Bright Colours Impacting Moods and Venues

Even if you consider yourself a lover of neutrals you may be finding yourself drawn to the bright and wonderful more than ever at the moment. Bright colours are making a bigger impact than ever before.

With bright colours making a loud impact amongst dopamine dressers, you’ll want dopamine in more aspects of your life. Within times of strife (which, we have seen a fair amount in the recent years), we see trends of people seeking joy wherever possible, especially where we go to spend our time.

Why not make an impact with dopamine designing?

Grasp people’s attention with bold reds or stimulate both happiness and optimism with hues of yellow. Create a sense of confidence with deep blues or emphasise joy with touches of orange.

To create an accurate imagery of how colours affect your mood we referred to the experts over at Masterclass and their analysis of colour psychology.

    Psychology of Cool Tone Colours

If you are wanting to emulate an environment of serenity or spark senses of creativity and innovation then cooler tones of blues and purples would be perfect. By using these colours you will also create an environment of health and well being.

    SERENITY AND CREATIVITY

Versital has many perfect options to emulate the serenity you dream of:

  5. Gothic Interiors Inspired by Interior Design Masters Winner: Monika Charchula

If you have been invested in BBC1’s home décor reality show, Interior Design Masters, then you will be well aware of the 2023 winner, Monika Charchula. With her unique dark Victorian-style and Gothic interiors giving incredible results in the show.

During the show Monika revealed an array of show stopping transformations and confidence in her choices. Having a brave sense of style and bold colours, combined to create a luxury Gothic interior. Monika brought to light a highly contrasting trend to the neutrals we tend to consistently see. Creating her own distinctive style.

Monika most certainly left us wanting more over here at Versital.

    INSPIRED BY MONIKA

Monika brought something different to interior design, focusing on rustic natural wood features, complimented with bold pops of colour.

Using a rustic wooden feature introduces natural tones into your venue. Creating a unique Victorian aesthetic. Bespoke carved wooden features such as on the bar panels, helps you stand out from the crowd and create a new offering for your customers.

If you love the rustic wooden touches from Monika’s style, why not consider adding a bespoke carved wooden bar, or add elements of natural wood with small touches such as wooden overhead features and furniture.

Plau Preston, added a rustic touch with the bespoke carved bar front. The award winning bar has a similar style to Monika, mirroring a Victorian Gothic aesthetic.

Monika’s business 84 Square, creates eclectic Gothic furniture which would help anyone add a touch of natural wood to their environment. If you are not wanting large wooden features you could always opt for natural wood antique furnishings.

Natural wood furnishings from 84 square.

    TOUCH OF LUXURY

Monika did not shy away from adding elements of luxury to her Gothic interiors.

Luxury within hospitality is in high demand, so why not add a touch of opulence to your natural wood finishes. By using a classic marble finish to your tops, continuing the Victorian Gothic design within the venue, whilst adding the essence of luxury. Versital has many classic marbles within the heritage collection which would go perfectly alongside Monika’s aesthetic.

Versital’s marble is non-porous and 100% waterproof, making the marble a hard wearing and long lasting piece. The marble can be made to suit any venue, with bespoke drop edge details you will be able to create a unique piece which mirrors your aesthetic perfectly.

Plau Preston opted for Arabesque on their bar top. A beautiful classic finish which perfectly complements the carved wooden bar front. Adding an essence of luxury and ease to their bar.

DARK SHADES AND A POP OF COLOUR

Partner your Rustic features with a touch of deep navy and black. Rich dark colours add further depth to the Gothic interior. Contrasting the dark tones with a pop of colour, we have seen orange and navy work together perfectly. Similarly to black and vibrant yellow.

Create fun features that stand out by playing with the use of colour. Similarly to Monika’s designs, colour will add more depth to your interior and create an interesting environment.

Maber bar top with edge detail

Rustic and Victorian elements are partnered with a rich navy wall and chairs to complement. Implementing a fun twist of a deep orange. Alongside rustic wooden features and Gothic-Victorian decor.

Black and yellow themed waiting area with gold leopard side table

Front lobby using an out of this world cosmic pattern with vibrant pops of yellow. Partnered with eclectic decorative features.

    USE OF GREENERY

Botanical features are taking over. Greenery and natural features are being implemented into venues more often. Monika’s work shows this through both botanical artwork on the walls as well as the addition of real plants.

Add features of greenery or botanical elements to draw in a natural feature. Whether that is through using real plants throughout your venue or displaying unique printed wallpaper.

a dimly lit restaurant. has large trees surrounding and large arches in the ceiling. with pops of blue chairs.

When creating a venue, ensure you have your own strong identity to show whilst you take inspiration from others.

  6. Washrooms – The Mightiest Influencer In Hospitality.

Typically, when discussing night out adventures you will excitedly discuss the delicious food, the unique cocktails and the exquisite décor. Focusing on the key features that the venue wants you to talk about. That does not mean that you will forget the lasting impression of the washrooms. With toilets being the first and last thing your customer remembers, you want to ensure it is a good memory.

You don’t want you customers dreading to go back to the grubby space allocated to them, with overflowing bins. You want the toilet to mirror the venue, ensuring it isn’t a questionably damp and badly lit space that they would prefer to vacate quickly!

Though toilets are not the main priority they should be placed pretty far up your list. Remembering that the cleanliness and appearance of the washroom will in turn mirror the way your customers view your entire venue.

DO CUSTOMERS REALLY CARE ABOUT MY TOILET?

Yes, they most certainly do. A survey conducted by Cintas Corporation found that when asked what specific business the participants would avoid if they encountered dirty restrooms, an astounding 79% of participants said they would avoid restaurants and hotels.

However, it does not have to stop at the basics of cleanliness.

The trend to create a lavish washroom within your venue has become increasingly popular. Showing that hospitality want to care for their customers for their entire stay. Providing a memorable restroom will give your customers something extra to say. Whilst also possibly providing them with the perfect space to take the much needed Instagram selfies on their night out.

HOW DO I IMPROVE MY WASHROOMS?

It is important your washrooms mirror your venue and identity as a whole. However, there are some popular design features that are creating the perfect washroom experience.

    1. Don’t forget the essence of comfort

Washrooms are becoming a more social space where your customers can escape from the busy environment to somewhere slightly quieter. With many introducing soft furnishings such as pouffes to sit on.

It is also popular to place these in front of mirrors, to allow the touching up of makeup.

    2. Add a touch of luxury

Entice your customers into a luxurious trip to the loo. Add touches of opulence with beautiful marble vanity tops and paneling. Versital offers the perfect touch of luxury to any washroom as well as being no-porous and waterproof. Producing the finest amount of luxury combined with convenience.

    3. Stand out with pops of colour

Use bold and bright colours to capture your customers. Unique uses of colour will make your washrooms memorable. Adding bright wall paper or unique colourful vanity tops are easy ways to add a fun colourful element. Why not consider creating a pop of colour with one of Versital’s many colourful marble variations.

Washrooms are rapidly becoming a priority within the hospitality sector. Ensuring that you cater to the customers need for a unique and luxury space is vital. Encourage your customers to return to a clean and enjoyable environment in all aspects.

  7. Pink Bars Are Influencing Hospitality; You Ready?

Pretty pinks have been taking over the world, and now they are forever changing the way we go to bars and restaurants. As pink bars are popping up everywhere you don’t want to be behind on this trend. With Instagram creating a desire to see all things ‘instagrammable’, pink bars have become the perfect photo spot on a Friday night.

As the design world takes some rest and recovery from the years of all grey everything, many are looking to brighter palettes and colour schemes.

THE PSYCHOLOGY OF COLOUR – HOW DOES PINK MAKE YOU FEEL?

The specific shade of pink can affect associations and meanings. A light pink is often viewed as soft, healing, and peaceful, whereas a hot pink might be seen as bold, exciting, and alarming.

    Kendra Cherry, Very Well Mind

Pink is known to be a calming colour which is associated with femininity and youth, as well as emulating a sense of playfulness.

The use of bold pink tones will also create a sense of urgency and desire. As well as alleviating any feelings of anger leading to a calmness of emotional energies.

Combinations of pink can create the perfect feminine and playful environment which will be memorable to those who come and visit.

With every bar wanting to have an identity and set out from the rest it is important to ensure that you look at the variety of different pinks available in the market.

Versital has a fair few to choose from:

    HOW TO STYLE WITH PINK

The barbie dream has also been created by using a multitude of pinks collided together to create the perfect feminine fantasy.

All over pinks at Manuka in Sussex

To create a sense of otherworldly nature the pinks have also been intertwined with bold botanical wallpaper and large plants.

However, if you are wanting to create a more subdued environment then why not use soft and subtle blush tones in combination with creams and natural lighting.

Or why not go all out and emphasise the modern look of your venue with neon lights and large swirly fonts decorating the walls.

    SUNSET OASIS

Grab a cocktail and escape to a dreamy sunset oasis whilst getting comfy on the cosy booths surrounded by calming mood lighting. If you are needing a trip to paradise then you are in the right place.

Named after the honey used by singers to treat their throat, the bar has another connection to the music industry with the founder being the drummer Ben Thompson from Two Door Cinema Club. Located in the heart of West Sussex. Offering creative cocktails until early hours of the morning.

    AWARD WINNING DESIGNING

Designed by the award winning 3 stories design. Celebrating Miami Beach vibes and the “golden Hour”, transporting you into a hedonistic, peach hued paradise.

Celebrating the golden hour… as the sun sets, be transported away from the streets of Worthing and into a hedonistic, peach hued, oasis. For Manuka we created an intimate but bold interior scheme in harmony with a warm, playful new brand identity

    – 3 Stories

The identity is built on a graphic linear gradient, reflective of the sun going down… and the party starting. This design language is brought to life with stylised icons, and applied across various applications such as logo, menu, printed collateral & signage.

    MANUKA PARADISE

A sense of serenity will envelope you as you get transported into the Manuka paradise. The pink interior highlights the desire for young femininity within the bar as well as wanting to create a playful environment. Creating a perfectly insta-worthy night out.

Bespoke Matching Bar tops and Table tops

The matching pink bar and tables emphasise the playfulness of the bar. The designer 3 Stories opted to use the exclusive pink marble Rock n Rose from Versital.

Versital bar tops and table tops are fully bespoke and made to designers specification, allowing complete freedom of design and expression. They were able to carry the theme of ‘pink paradise’ with Rock N Rose throughout the venue.

The warm and playful interior created with the pink hues will make you want to stay until the sun rises.

With a growing desire within hospitality to be the most memorable amongst its peers, Ate O’clock York has definitely set itself ahead of the rest. Using a brightly lit stunning pink marble bar as a central feature, Ate O’clock certainly won’t be lost in the crowd.

JMDA wanted to create “an iconic, modern place for those dining and drinking”.

    – JMDA Ltd

    KEEPING THINGS LOCAL

The owners of Ate O’clock are keen to work with local suppliers. This led them to choosing to work with York based JMDA Design to rejuvenate the venue and create the perfect bar.

A MODERN BAR IN A MEDIEVAL CITY

Ate O’clock is located within the heart of York, offering European and British food throughout the day and night. The redesign wanted to attract those looking for a modern and youthful bar in a historical city. Catering to those who live in York and those who enjoy visiting, as well as a large student population.

Due to the struggles within the hospitality industry over the last few years Ate O’clock wanted to create a lively, exciting place to visit. The use of the striking pink marble bar creates the perfect memorable centre piece. The designer JMDA opted to use the exclusive pink marble Rock n Rose from Versital and included a custom decorative edge detail for more impact.

Alongside the comfy booth seating and mood lighting, this is a place you want to spend your time.

NEW DRINKS AND A POP OF PINK

As you enter the new bar and lounge area, the lively energy will greet you. With a new drink’s and reinvented food menu, Ate O’clock didn’t leave anything out.

Food is obviously very important too, so a lot of time has been spent with the chefs, making sure the menus are delicious, relevant, and tempting.

Same goes for the drinks, which have been created with a mixologist so they taste delicious and can be enjoyed with food or in the lounge area.

    –       Alex, Owner

The vibrant pink bar has been partnered with a monochrome marble and botanical features, creating a contemporary and lively ambience. A quirky design feature includes an array of clocks of all shapes and sizes, frozen at eight O‘clock – you will lose all track of time amongst the beautiful interior and new menus.

Multiple areas have been created within the venue for many purposes, from sitting at the bar and watching cocktails being made, through to more intimate seating within the booths ideal for dining.
