    Feya – Flagship Knightsbridge

The ever popular London Café Feya has branched out with the launch of its flag ship venue in the heart of the fashionable shopping district of Knightsbridge. Introducing an Insta-worthy interior to its customers.

The brief: to create an escape rooted in fantasy and nature.

    Insta-worthy Interiors

Feya approached FromRoom to create a design like no other. FromRoom have a reputation for creating the highest quality Hospitality projects with flair. It was especially important to create those ‘Insta–worthy’ moments for visitors that have become so important in hospitality.

    Brand Development

    FormRoom’s MD, David Roberts says

“Feya as a brand is very fantastical in their direction.

Their vision is one rooted in mythology and escapism, so that lends itself naturally to a maximalist approach to feature design.

Feya has a very loyal brand following who see it as a retreat from reality. So we looked to create a narrative for the space, so that as you move through it you’re taken on a very literal journey of discovery.

The product itself is highly visually innovative and the space reflects this attention to creativity and detail. It should feel playful and fun, an indulgence and a celebration.”

    Versital and FormRoom

Having worked with FormRoom before, Versital were approached to offer advice and supply custom surfaces to fit the brief of nature vs the fantastical.

“FormRoom have a reputation for fabulous designs and we were delighted when we were approached and our exclusive ‘Metallic Marble’ was specified for the main feature marble counter area and table tops. Being cast, were able to shape the reception front to a curve. The table tops match the rest of the deign and bring the whole scheme together”

At the entrance is a striking bespoke counter created using Versital Metallic Marble in Gold Stratos, complete with etched gold sections.

Versital worked in conjunction with specialist shop fitter Dawnvale who project managed and installed the entire project.

“We have worked with Dawnvale on numerous projects and it is always a pleasure to know you are working with experts. We worked together to ensure the materials worked with the design and their joinery, delivered to order and on time to meet with their strict schedules.

With Dawnvale we were able to fulfil the vision that FormRoom had created.”

    Strict deadlines

The project had a total of six weeks from design, project management and final hand over which Versital was able to deliver within.

    Custom designs

The feel of ethereal and other worldliness continues throughout the café, with abstract references to water, Lilly pad sections created with tables and cushions and even wall details to appear like a forest.

Towards the rear of the café, striking oversized birdcages create a centre piece amongst the forest canopy. The metallic marble tables from Versital complement this feature area perfectly, providing the perfect photo opportunity for visitors.

Water proof and stain proof marble

As well as offering a unique bespoke look of natural marble with a metallic twist, Versital surfaces are also fully waterproof and stain proof.

“Although design is key to a fantastic hospitality venue, we are also conscious of providing clients with a product that will be practical and look great long after installation.

Versital surfaces are able to deliver on both of these important considerations – they look beautiful and unique, but are also easy to clean and won’t stain with use”

  2. Sleep & Eat – The Seasonal Inspiration Exposition

    London’s Exclusive Interior Design Exhibition

To get inspiration for the coming year our team went down to London for the incredible exhibition of world’s best interior designers, suppliers and manufacturers – Sleep and Eat.

Sleep and Eat event is targeted at the whole commercial and domestic interior design industry. It offers an incredible array of displays and exhibitions aiming not only to showcase products, but also coming trends and concepts. For us at Versital it offered a great opportunity to meet many of our clients, associates and to celebrate the industry we work in. We kept our eyes open, and scanned for current and upcoming trends to provide our customers with the most up to date products.

    Sleep and Eat Event

    Marble is a Major Trend

One of the most striking findings at the Sleep and Eat exhibition was how popular marble is becoming. It has moved way past the bathroom and shower panels, and is introduced into more and more in spaces like bedrooms and living rooms. Many interior designers used it to compliment soft colours and furnishings to create a calming, modern designs that have a really soothing ambience.

Marble seems to also be a hit in the hospitality sector, with many people specifying it for bar and table tops. As we spoke to many of the designers and specifiers, they said that they often turn to marble alternatives (out of which many chose Versital) in order to accomplish the same visual result but increase the lifespan. We were also very proud to find that Knightsbridge Furniture had a stand featuring one of our marble finish table tops in ‘Perlato’. The table top was matched with interesting modern base and surrounded by navy blue carpets and an interesting, contemporary furniture that created a really nice result.

Many designers seem to also move away from the classic white marble and towards more strong and striking colours like blue, green or mustard. Because of that, right after our team brought in the inspirational pictures from the show, our engineers begun to experiment with our colour palette to cater to that new, growing trend.bathroom freestanding sink at sleep and eat

    Rich Blue is Taking Over

As if everyone had pre-arranged it, many stands featured deep midnight blue as their key colour. Those that did not feature blue, normally opted for deep shades of green or soft grey. Strong colours interestingly complimented the softer, and rounder silhouettes and textures of many items.

The whole show featured an incredible amount of curved lines, featured mainly on very popular top mounted basins, sofas, chairs and table tops. To contrast the soft lines of the fixtures many designers used geometric or heavy printed wall paper, or decorative elements like vases and bowls that worked together very well.

    Metal is Slowly Creeping In

Although it was not as pronounced as the blue – metal elements seem to have risen high in the world of interior design. Many stands featured furniture which was embellished with metal accents of rose and plain gold.

The designers matched it with either deep colours like brown, burgundy or midnight blue or with a soft wood and off-white porcelain and ceramics. It is very clear that metal accents are on the rise and many trend report suggest that in couple of years they will play a major role for designers and customers alike.

    Back to Nature

Alongside the recently rising sustainability trend generally visible in retail, interior design sees a rise of natural greenery and plants. Many exhibitions proudly featured flowers or green walls that seamlessly blended with the striking colours and soft shapes.

Many designers contrasted greenery with metal accents polished to a mirror finish.  As a company deeply committed to sustainable development, our team marvelled at some of the set-up rooms created by England’s most renowned designers. Furthermore we saw that many of the greenery stands involved marble elements, creating a really striking effect.

Hotel Bathrooms Get a Facelift With Bespoke Shower Trays

Hyatt’s five star luxury boutique hotel, The Andaz Liverpool Street, welcomes guests to discover the unrivalled city of London, the old and the new.

To keep up with the needs of the discerning traveler hotels are constantly looking to improve the décor and facilities. Bathrooms make a huge impact on clients when staying in hotels and need to be kept in top condition.

Luxury Hotel and 5 Star Facilities

As well as luxury rooms, the hotel has a beautiful restaurant and cocktail bar, and hosts parties, weddings and events including fabulous New Years Eve parties.

Review sites such a Trip Advisor rate it 5 star. With all public facing businesses like this, it is essential they keep their rooms and public areas up to scratch. Versital have recently been involved in supplying custom made shower trays to update the bathrooms in this hotel.

Bathrooms Updated Using Bespoke Shower Trays

“The hotel and rooms are beautiful, but because of the age of the building a lot of the bedrooms still had baths as the main washing facility. Less people and especially travelers are keen to use a bathtub and prefer the option of a large walk in shower where possible. They have come to expect it with highly rated hotels. Changing a full bathroom can be difficult and costly, especially with having rooms out of action whilst work is carried out.

We were able to offer a solution of a bespoke shower tray that would fit the space where the bath tub had been perfectly, making alterations to the bathroom much simpler and less costly. The bathrooms were brought bang up to date with a cost effective and simple solution. Bespoke shower trays are available in a wide range of marble and granite finishes to match in with existing tiles, as well as custom RAL colours to suit a corporate identity or specific colour requirement.

We look forward to supplying the remainder of the bathrooms over the course of the next year as they become required.”
